A surprising number of people suffer from the loss of a beloved family member or friend as a result of a violent crime. Forensic sciences, such as modern DNA analysis, forensic anthropology and forensic archeology, along with behavioural sciences, have gone through major developments. Today a psychological assessment of historic information can lead to new insights into the sequence of criminal events and characteristics of the offender, and provide new practical suggestions with a view to finally concluding unsolved crimes.
